Letter of the Week – Letter L
This week was a busy one for me. Not that I did anything, but there was a lot of baby caring for and less letter L caring about. 🙂
Day 1
- Find l stickers and put on L
- Color and assemble Letter L Book (I only printed off three image pages)
- Go to library and get L books
- Starfall Computer Activity
- Song: L Song
Day 2
- Fill in L outline and l outline with: drew lions and “L” stamp (leaves, lace, lasagna noodles, lemon prints: use cut fruit for stamp with yellow paint, lime prints: use cut fruit for stamp with green paint)
- Put out L words (lamp, light, light switch, lantern…I highly recommend using masking or painting tape so nothing is ruined when you pull it off)
- Created Lego with her dad
- Video: Olive and the Rhyme Rescue Crew
Day 3
- Letter to “L” person
- Light: count how many lights we have and create a graph. I was going to do a tally graph like we did last time. So I had her draw a light and a lamp. Then she decided she wanted to draw lights and lamps each time rather than tally marks. Then we counted them all up and she wrote the total at the bottom.
- Activity Sheet 1
- Activity Sheet 2
- Video: Get Squiggling
Day 4
- Leg lifts (the ones done while laying on your side…surprisingly difficult for her.)
- Play Chutes and Ladders (we have the old version linked here…it is great for a conversation on natural consequences. 🙂 )
- Activity Sheet 3
- Activity Sheet 4
- Video: Sesame Street Letter L
Day 5
- Gather up any toys (animals are especially great for this) that start with the letter. Create a centerpiece and display the items.
- L dinner
Appetizers: Latkes (bought frozen ones from Trader Joe’s – in the breakfast section)
Dinner: Lo Mein (Super easy and not all that authentic 🙂 ) Here’s the recipe. (we used regular green beans, not sugar snap peas)
Dessert: Lemon bars (bought frozen ones from Trader Joe’s)(other options: lemonade, lettuce wraps, lasagna, left overs, lettuce, lentils, lentil soup, lima beans, limes, lemons, leeks, linguini, lemon bars, lemon curd, lady fingers) - Bible Story: Lazarus, Leah, Lot, Lucifer, Luke
