Life, the Give Way

Time for a Change

Once my little daughter was taking semi-regular naps, I decided it was time to start writing again for The Give Way.  About that time we moved into our new house, and on the morning of moving day, I went and bought donuts for the moving crew.  As I struggled to figure out how I was going to carry both the boxes and my daughter, a very helpful man offered to carry the donuts for me.  An idea hit me: maybe I could start to notice when others were giving to me on a daily basis!  But if any of you have ever had a 7 month old, you probably know that noticing anything other than baby stuff (the food she was dropping, spit-up she was spewing, etc.) is difficult.

I thought about going back to the previous method: documenting my own efforts to live the give way.  But since it was no longer a structured, daily project that I was working on, any examples basically came out sounding super conceited.  (“Here’s this nice thing I did the other day.  I’m important!”)  🙂

Then, as I was trying to figure out what I was going to do with this blog, my web hosting software was automatically upgraded, and in the process I somehow lost all my posts!!  There were a few that I had saved in some places.  But most are gone forever.  (sad trombone…)  For some reason all the comments were saved, so I copied and saved those, just to look at some day. They will at least remind me of some of the things I wrote about, and some of the thoughtful readers who contributed along the way.  So if you commented, thank you for giving in that way.

So, now it’s time for a change.  I’m working on a new plan.  It’s not going to be a 365 project (mainly because I have a child, and she is a 365 24/7 project).  But hopefully it will still exemplify the give way of life.

So, bear with me as we update the site (by we, I mean my husband, Scott) and the content.  And if you have any suggestions, please feel free to let me know at thegiveway [at] gmail [dot] com.

Lesson Learned: Back up your blog posts!!!
